“I’m casting the search for Dolly,” she declared in an Instagram post on December 5. “Whether you’re pursuing your dreams from a small town or have spent years performing on stages across the country, I want to give you the chance to help me bring my story to Broadway and maybe even play me.”
“This show is a celebration of my music, my life, and all the amazing people who have been with me on the journey,” she went on. “Now we are looking for fabulous performers who can bring to life the essence of my journey, whether you are a seasoned theater professional or an unpolished gem with that special little song.”
But the 78-year-old whose career started at 10 years old and has encompassed music, television, and film, earning 11 Grammys, inductions into the Country Music and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame, and many other awards is not looking for just one actress to portray her.
"There's three different Dolleys that we have to find," Dolly told E! News, exclusively. "There's got to be a little Dolly, because I started when I was very young. And then there's the middle Dolly that I spent a lot of those years. And then the older Dolly, the one that kind of narrates the whole thing [and] comes in and out and even kind of works with the other two." To hear more from Dolly's interview, be sure to watch E! News tonight, December 5th at 11 p.m.
